Speaking of Newcastle...

The Billet homes were fabulous!

A few of the families took in 7 or 8 of our band members. Here is a photo of the Laird home. A few of us parents on the Companion Tour were lucky enough to have our kids stay in this home. We were invited to an Australian "Barbie" the last night they were there.

See if you can find your kid here:

An incredible time in Newcastle

Continued fun and amazing events.....

IMG_0524.JPGWe arrived in Newcastle to a warm welcome from the Koalas, who billeted with us last year. Shortly after we arrived, we were invited to be part of "Winter Heat" which is a regular event for residents of this city. Our Board members and Drum Malors were part of a reception with the Lord Mayor of Newcastle. There was an impressive candle lighting ceremony, during which the Royals performed and wowed the crowd. The Koalas have been fabulous hosts and the community in general has been polite, enthusiastic and delighted to support our kids.

Sydney

The Royals have left Sydney and moved on to Newcastle. Today many of them explored the city, the animals and the surf!!

I have a few photos of performances in Sydney. Marvin and Phil have many more to add once things slow down for them. They will find a computer and add some more shots.

So here are a few photos:

At Darling Harbour the band paraded in and while they did an audience followed them and grew. An appreciative audience!!

Later that day they performed at Hyde Park.

The next day they performed at the Circular Quay which is where all the ships and ferries pick up and drop off passengers. They performed at the Overseas Cruise ship terminal. The Sydney Opera House was in the background. I have no photo at this time. Will add one later.

They walked over to the Opera House for a photo shoot:

Fun in the Sun(dre)

The Sundre Parade was little drier ths year.....

sunny 29 °C

Our kids marched in the heat in picturesque Sundre. We had a good turnout,a great small town experience, and plenty of interaction with horse by-product. Some of our newer members got to experience the joy and necessity of cleaning drill masters after a parade. This was the last weekend before we leave for Australia, but not the last parade. Ponoka and Canmore-Banff beckon!
